Lady Macbeth is both; She has a psycho feminist dream. She wants to kill the king just to become queen, and support her loving husband. Lady Macbeth has this goal and she will do almost anything to obtain that goal including take a life. Her goal is to become queen and have Macbeth as the king. -Evan Feldberg Banana Time and Aron Barbell
We believe Lady Macbeth is not necessarily psycho, but isn't all put together. Lady Macbeth's actions involving King Duncan can interpreted in two different ways. The first way being that she wants her husband to be the best he can be (a.k.a the King). Secondly, she is on a quest for power. Also, the words she uses are very powerful over Macbeth's decisions. Lady Macbeth is talking to Macbeth about the King and their unreasoned plan,“When Duncan is asleep— Whereto the rather shall his day’s hard journey Soundly invite him—his two chamberlains Will I with wine and wassail so convince That memory, the warder of the brain, Shall be a fume, and the receipt of reason A limbeck only: when in swinish sleep Their drenchèd natures lie as in a death, What cannot you and I perform upon The unguarded Duncan?” (43).
Throughout the play each character holds a motive to obtain power. Lady Macbeth is no exception although her measures are irrational, instead of trying to win the crown rightfully she decides to reach her goal with assassination. Even when Macbeth explains why he is resistant, she shames him and calls him not a man. She doesn't listen to his concerns and has a thirst for power. She is manipulative and is willing to give up her humanity for power. On the other hand, she is trying to support her husband and she is willing to do anything to help. -Nichole and Alea
"We fail? But screw your courage to the sticking-place, And we’ll not fail. When Duncan is asleep— Whereto the rather shall his day’s hard journey Soundly invite him—his two chamberlains Will I with wine and wassail so convince That memory, the warder of the brain, Shall be a fume, and the receipt of reason A limbeck only: when in swinish sleep Their drenchèd natures lie as in a death, What cannot you and I perform upon The unguarded Duncan? What not put upon His spongy officers, who shall bear the guilt Of our great quell?" (43)
This quote by lady Macbeth, shows her true inner self. However, Lady Macbeth is very kind and welcoming to King Duncan. All she desires for is his death, therefore she produces a plan. She wants to blame everything on the servants; she is going to get them drunk and blame it on them. She is a psycho wife because will do anything to accomplish what she wants. No matter what the task is –even to kill a king – she will complete it. She is confident and aggressive.
Lady Macbeth
-she's aware of her ability to manipulate -calling the shots, she controls him -she's not listening to him, to his concerns
-her use of language makes her more manipulative -SHAMES HIM -she's willing to give up her entire humanity "unsex me here". -stereotypes -supporting her husband -battles -This is NOT an insignificant matter -KILL WITH IMPUNITY -[sleep well at night] b/c king says its "okay"
Hannah and i feel that she it somewhat insane. She is a control freak and is making Macbeth do some extremely crazy things so she can be queen. She has a strong thirst for power that she can not get rid of. Lady Macbeth is willing to do whatever it takes for the power.
